Ryedale Christian Council

About Ryedale Christian Council and its History

Ryedale Christian Council exists to promote co-operation between all Christians in Northern Ryedale.

The Council was formed in February 1963 and continues to promote joint activities. In 1998 leaders of many traditions signed an agreement to cooperate. As they met at Ampleforth this is known as the Ampleforth Covenant. Close cooperation now happens locally in Helmsley and Kirkbymoorside. We aim to bring the whole area together annually during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity for a service of Songs of Praise. With the resources of the wide area we are able to provide a Christian presence at the major agricultural show in the area, Ryedale Show. Periodically we arrange informative conferences on diverse topics of Christian interest.

More detail of our activities can be found in chairman's reports from 2011 and 2016
